0Metaphor of the Week
“Luke watched the procession like a covered crockpot that was turned too high.”
0Conflicted!
I’m torn between my desire to do my homework…and write. Gah! I’m seriously making waves (hehe) in my novel, but I feel guilty shoving off my work—especially because today is the only day I’ve actually given it a try.
But let’s be honest, I’m going to end up writing. You can’t turn away inspiration when it comes knocking.

The Distracted Writer’s Pick
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
I finished this a couple of days ago and was completely blown away. It is a wonderful book about and little remote island that has killer water horses in its ocean. Every November, they hold races, and most people don’t survive. The story follows two young protagonists in their journeys to win. Stiefvater has a great writing style that paints an intriguing and harshly beautiful picture. She is definitely one of those writers who embraces the less is more and gives the reader just enough to understand, but not too much to overwhelm.

0Printing adventures
So, I’ve discovered that I can’t seriously go through my writing when it’s on the computer. After awhile, I lose my productivity…I think it must be the bright screen or something like that. Anyway, I decided to print the first half of my novel today, just to make sure that I was headed in the right direction. Turns out, you are supposed to print odd pages and then even ones….oops. I think I’ve started a new printing style :)
0“If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have time to be a writer.”
“There comes a magical moment when you put it [a book] down and say…this really sucks. I can do better than this. And this got published.”
-Stephen King
What a boss. Look at him in his tie-dye.
Progress
Ok, so in the past, I’d say 8-9 days I’ve written 26 pages. I guess it’s pretty pathetic compared to professional writers, but I feel so productive! I’m on a creative roll, and it takes like cinnamon!
